Symaskine olie??
I shall be very interested in knowing which lubricant would you recommend for a HiFi turntable.
Usually these will need lubricant in one, two, or three places.
1) Slowly rotating main bearing (ø=7-15mm) is the main bearing of the Turntable. It holds the platter (in extreme cases weighing up to 20 kg). The bearing sleeve is sometimes sealed and sometimes ‘ventilated’ so that air (and some lubricant) may escape from the bearing. Bearing sleeves are normally either Torlon, PTFE, Oilite or Brass. This applies to all turntables regardless of drive-method.
2) Rotating at either approximately 300 RPM or 1600 RPM is a light weight (100g-200g) motor. Same bearings as described above. This applies to all but direct drive motors.
3) The idler wheel (super light at 20g-40g). This only applies to idler-driven turntables. Usually either a sleeve or pinion bearing.
Thank you for your enquiry. We would recommend to use of MOLYSLIP ARVINA XT2 which has a low viscosity base oil. This will not cause/contribute to ‘drag’ in the bearing during turntable start-up/operation.
