"The BM2 ribbon microphone was Bang-Olufsen’s first ribbon mic. It was produced by B&O in Denmark, between 1951 and 1962. Like most B&O products it is beautifully designed, in fact it has become something of a design classic.
BM2 ribbon mics in a good condition are rare. This BM2 is in a good, vintage condition with some traces of use. The mic body is finished in a yellowish green paint, the grille is chromed. On the rear of the body are some traces of what appears to be the remains of sticky tape. The metal has some minor pitting as shown on the close up photos.
Like the majority of ribbon mics the BM2 has a figure of 8 pickup pattern. It has a variable high pass filter, “M” stands for “music” and “T” for speach. It’s complete with original cast iron table top stand and the rare and hard to find proprietory B&O connector. The cable ends in a standard XLR-connector, for interfacing with modern pro equipment.
This BM2 still has it’s original ribbon, and works flawlessly. It sounds very “vintage” : smooth and warm".
